- Chemo: put in the freezer-see below
Precautions
- Consult your doctor, oncologist, physiotherapist, or nurse before using this new product.
Instructions for use - Application of cold therapy socks for feet
- Follow the product recommendations in the manufacturer's instructions, depending on the duration of use.
The general recommendation from the manufacturer for the treatment of sports injuries is only 20 minutes, but the treatment time for chemotherapy is much longer (see above).
The cooling duration of these cooling elements is up to 30-40 minutes: the cold packs deliver their performance evenly and over a longer period. - How are they used? Advice for using the cooling cap.
- Between chemotherapy sessions, the cooling elements are stored in the freezer (freeze for at least 2 hours at -18 °C).
The cold therapy socks can remain in the freezer indefinitely and will remain soft and flexible. - How do I store them in the deep freezer?
In the manufacturer's packaging.
Do not come into contact with food. - On the day of treatment, place in a small cooler.
- How can I keep the cold socks cold longer in the cooler?
For example, place them in an insulated bag, a towel, a flannel, etc. - Start cooling the feet 10-15 minutes (or 30' *2) before the chemo / or before starting (= dripping) the infusion.
- For cold therapy, place a piece of fabric/insulating material between the cooling pad and the skin.
Suitable interlayers include: socks (thin or thicker depending on how you support the cold), a light towel, a piece of fabric, a sheet/pillowcase (cut to size), 6 layers of paper towels, or a jersey. - The infusion solution is administered via an intravenous infusion (drip infusion).
- Keep the cooling socks on during chemotherapy *.
- After the infusion, the cooling ice socks should still be worn for 10-15 minutes (or 90' *2) after chemotherapy *.
Own cooling socks? You can leave with it if allowed (not for driving your car yourself). - *2 The exact duration of treatment is determined by the attending physician.
The total duration also depends on the concentration or strength of the medication and how quickly the medication is "eliminated" via the kidneys. - If you cannot tolerate this cold, be sure to place a cloth, towel, or other insulating material between the ice socks and the skin during use.
- Allow the cold therapy sockss to dry before placing it back in the freezer.
- Between chemotherapy sessions, the cooling elements are stored in the freezer (freeze for at least 2 hours at -18 °C).
- If in doubt, consult your attending physician, oncologist, case manager nurse, nurse, or dermatologist.
Where can I buy a cold therapy socks for chemo?
You may buy these ice therapy socks from a medical company, officially registered with the Belgian ministry of economic affairs, division medical devices and the ministry of health, registration as a bachelor hospital nurse.
How can I keep my cold socks cold longer during chemo or use it for a longer time period?
Put XL isolating socks over your socks.
These isolating socks serve as external insulation, preventing the cold socks from warming up from the outside.
This keeps the socks cooler on the inside for a longer period.

Die Füßkühlung ist funktioniert gut und ist auch 90 Minuten anhaltend, daß einzige Manko ist, daß die Hackenkühlungspacks sich immer wieder herauslösen.
